My Bedroom Reveal - Sara Rozalina

When it came to decorating my bedroom, I knew I wanted it to feel like my personal haven. It’s my favorite room in my apartment and the space where I truly get to unwind at the end of the day, or even work from home sometimes.

Also I’ll often just sit on my bed and stare out the window, with a cup of coffee or tea, simply because the room feels so peaceful. My goal was to create a space that feels calm, comforting, and elevated, much like a hotel room you never want to leave.

Before choosing individual pieces, I focused on the overall feel I wanted to achieve. My interior design style is transitional, which mixes traditional and modern styles, and you’ll see that reflected throughout my design choices.

I love mixing classic elements with more contemporary touches to keep the space timeless. I leaned into soft, neutral tones with subtle color to keep everything feeling cohesive and serene.

One of the first elements I chose was the window treatment. I went with deep blue blackout curtains layered with white liner curtains, which instantly made the room feel more finished. Think Mediterranean-inspired colors. These curtains are from Costco and were a really great price.

I paired them with bronze-colored curtain rods from Home Depot, which add warmth and contrast without overpowering the space.

The bed is the focal point of the room, so choosing the right one was essential. I went with the Kordasky sleigh bed from Ashley HomeStore, which has a dove gray finish. I love the shape of a sleigh bed—it feels classic and substantial without being too heavy.

For the bedding, I kept things simple and hotel-inspired with white Egyptian cotton sheets and a cotton duvet from QE Home. Crisp white bedding always gives that clean, elevated look, and I finished it off with decorative cover pillows from Homesense for added texture. In blues and greens; I like to say the color of sky and grass. The goal is to bring nature inside.

On either side of the bed, I added wooden nightstands from Homesense with a white base, gray top, and gold knobs. Each nightstand has three drawers, and above them is a hollow shelf where I styled a hyacinth basket for extra storage.

On top, I kept the styling minimal with a small lamp which stands on top of a book, and a simple art piece – all from Homsense. I love keeping bedside décor simple so the room feels calm rather than cluttered.

To bring in some greenery, I added a small 7 ft olive tree from Amazon next to the bed. It softens the space and adds a natural element that makes the room feel more inviting and pretty.

I also created a cozy corner with a blue accent chair and lamp from Homesense, styled with a sage green scalloped-edge cotton pillow. It’s a simple setup, but it adds character and makes the room feel thoughtfully designed.

Across from the bed is the classic white Hemnes IKEA dresser (which they no longer sell) with a glass top. I swapped out the original dark knobs for gold ones from Amazon, which was an easy DIY update that completely elevated the piece.

On top of the dresser, I styled décor pieces from Homesense, including a lamp, a marble accent, and a lavender plant for added color. It’s one of my favorite flowers for décor.

Above the dresser is the statement mirror—a heavy brassy gold French-inspired ornate mirror, made of iron from Structube (the Pascale). I believe Structube does not sell this size anymore unfortunately, but there are other similar versions out there.

It’s an exact dupe of the Anthropologie Primrose mirror and adds that European, gold-gilded touch to the room. I love how it brings in a Parisian-inspired elegance while still fitting seamlessly with the rest of the space.

To finish off the room, I added a faux sisal-style rug from IKEA (the Lydersholm). It adds texture and warmth while remaining neutral and timeless, helping ground the space and tie everything together. It is also allergy-friendly.

This bedroom took time to put together, but my goal was always simple: peaceful, stylish, timeless, and hotel-inspired. It’s now a space that truly reflects how I want my bedroom to feel—calm, curated, and comfortable. ||
