Fairmont Royal York Review - Toronto

Updated: Aug 19, 2022

For the past two years, my husband and I haven’t had the chance to really go anywhere, for a little getaway from home. And because of everything going on in the world, we decided to go somewhere close to home. I’ve always wanted to go to the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto. That dream came true this summer.

Located in the heart of Downtown Toronto, the Royal York is an impressive historic luxury hotel. With its European architecture and flair for class, the Royal York is definitely one you don’t want to miss. Countless of presidents, celebrities and members of the Royal Family, including Queen Elizabeth, have all stayed here.

I was able to stay in one of the newly renovated Fairmont Gold rooms. The hotel had gone through extensive renovations that was completed in 2019, which include the Fairmont Gold rooms and lounge in the upper floors.

We checked in at the newly renovated lobby with its famous clock in the center—which was designed by Rockwell Group. The Fairmont Gold room was stunning! The room has a very neutral base, with blue and gold accents. This is definitely a current trend right now in interior design, and a timeless one at that. Combining classic and modern touches, the room totally hit the right vibe.

The bathroom gave the full at-home spa experience with its marble vanity and gold accents, complete with aromatherapy pods in the shower. The view of the CN Tower at the window was also a plus.

The room also comes equipped with your own Nespresso machine and various coffee and espresso pods to try. Other drinks are there as desired and great room service options were also available.

As part of the Fairmont Gold package, we got exclusive complimentary access to the Fairmont Gold Lounge, where we had a full breakfast served each morning, and canapes and hors d’oeuvres in the evening. The breakfast was on point, from their muffins to the egg entrée.

It was also really fun to check out the two restaurants on the premises—Reign and Clockwork Terrace. Reign definitely set the tone for all the romantic feels of a fine dining experience. With low lights and tasty steak, it was a delicious time. Clockwork Terrace never fails to disappoint with its beautiful floral patio and plants—and of course the food. They serve one of the best burgers I’ve ever eaten and a tasty virgin piña colada, that brought back some déjà vu of my time in Cuba.

Staying at the Fairmont Royal York was an unforgettable experience and I can’t wait to go back one day soon!
