When I think of Rachael Lampa, “powerful and full of soul” is what comes to mind. Rachael’s astounding vocals are the kind you don’t hear everyday. This Dove-Award winning artist has been around since the release of her debut album in 2000. Rachael was one of the top Contemporary Christian Music artists of the 2000s and is making a comeback with new music.
Fans have been greatly anticipating new music from Rachael, as she had taken a small break to raise her family and take a step back to focus on other things. Her rendition of “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus,” created a stir in 2017.
With the release of a new single “Side of My Heart,” this August, Rachael is giving a taste of what is to come. Rachael has found a new motto in life.
“If I can wake up everyday and believe that I am loved by God, I can have the courage for anything that life may bring.” Rachael said. “Also, out of that love, I can love and serve others well, create music, and enjoy life to the fullest.”
Rachel got into the music business when she was just a teenager and there was actually a bidding war amongst the Christian labels on who was going to sign her.
“When I was 14 years old, I was asked to sing at a coffee shop during a Christian music conference near my home in Colorado. Little did I know that I would meet a handful of A&R people from record labels in Nashville, including Brent Bourgeois from Word Records,” Rachael said. “I eventually signed a deal with them and that was that!”
Rachael is looking to write and release music that is more personal than before. The heart connection is really important to Rachael. In fact, one of her favorite songs that she had written, was inspired from a very emotional experience.
“Maybe ‘The Art’. It was the first song I ever wrote on my own and the process of recording it was one of the most special experiences. It was a song that I needed to write and share,” Rachael said. “It was a song about my parents’ divorce and the feelings I had right in that moment. It was the first time I realized how healing making music can be.”
So far Rachael has recorded an EP, and is looking to add more songs to it. Either a full-album release or a 2-EP release. Rachael is all about creating right now.
“Don’t be afraid to create as much as possible. For a long time, I stopped creating because it wasn’t “perfect” or I didn’t have a “plan”, but true art and true passion doesn’t need either one of these,” Rachael said. “You just need your heart; the good stuff will come along.”
Aside from her interests in music, Rachael is involved with a non-profit organization called People Loving Nashville. She started it with her siblings.
“We hand out clothes and food on Monday nights for those who are experiencing homelessness in Nashville, but more importantly, we provide a consistent community that cares about them and wants to walk through their struggles alongside them,” Rachael said. “We also have programs where we work with the incarcerated and those transitioning out of incarceration.”
Rachael Lampa is definitely staying busy, and we can’t wait to hear new music from her!
