30 Things I Learned Before Turning 30

Updated: May 23, 2022

When you are a person that’s about to turn 30, you start thinking about a few different things in life. It’s an important milestone. They say it’s a time where you are old enough to look back and young enough to look forward. I’ve been thinking about what thoughts I could pass to other people.

I’m turning 30 on Friday, and I want to share my observations from my short but eventful time on this earth thus far. Here is my list of 30 things I learned before turning 30.

1.) Take the time to become good in your skills and talents.

2.) Everyone has a different perspective and history.

3.) Always keep trying, no matter how many times you fail.

4.) Remain grateful regardless of circumstances.

5.) Forgive yourself and others. Don’t hold onto things. Protect yourself but remain open.

6.) Take care of your physical health. Become a student of your health.

7.) Place an importance on mental health.

8.) Cut out the drama as much as you can. You don’t need everyone to like you.

9.) Learn to dress well and style your body type.

10.) Learn to love and become comfortable with the way you look.

11.) Forget comparison. It can be very distracting and limit your focus.

12.) Believe in your life choices and personal value system. Knowing what you want and sticking up for it. Believe in your own goals and decisions.

13.) Learn basic housekeeping and cooking skills.

14.) Stay out of debt and build an emergency fund.

15.) Don’t be afraid to set boundaries. With others. With yourself.

16.) Don’t be afraid to be vulnerable to others –it’s risky but worth it.

17.) Understand what your weaknesses and strengths are.

18.) Know your worth—in regards to your paycheck or how you should be treated. You are valuable.

19.) When you find that special someone—don’t let go easily. It will be hard work. And it takes two to make it work. But there is nothing else like it.

20.) As long as it depends on you, keep the peace in relationships.

21.) Don’t be afraid of making your dreams a reality.

22.) Faith is super important for strength—having God changes everything.

23.) Family is a blessing. They are a key part of how you became you. Cherish them.

24.) Build and cultivate friendships and a support system.

25.) Networking with others in your field is important—even in small ways.

26.) Worrying doesn’t get you too far.

27.) Identify your purpose. What you are about and how you will show that to others.

28.) Keep seeing the good in people. Give others the benefit of the doubt.

29.) Make your place a home. You should like to live where you live. Make it a haven.

30.) Learn to be content wherever you are in life. True contentment comes in trusting in Jesus and what He says about your life. He will always be there.

These things are always important no matter how old you are… turning 30 is just a number. I hope this was helpful!
