Did you know that a lot of Hallmark movies are filmed right here, next to Burlington? Hamilton, Ancaster, Oakville, and Milton — all just a short drive from Burlington — have quietly become some of Hallmark’s favorite filming spots. Between the heritage buildings, cozy small-town main streets, and rolling countryside, it’s easy to see why.

When I visited Springridge Farm in Milton, just on the edge of Burlington, it honestly felt like stepping right into a Hallmark movie. Pumpkins everywhere, flowers in full bloom, and that old red farm truck sitting perfectly for a photo; it was the definition of fall magic.

It’s no wonder Hallmark loves this part of Ontario. Here are five spots close by.

Dundurn Castle - Hamilton, Ontario

One of the most recognizable local filming spots is Dundurn Castle, the grand 19th-century estate overlooking Hamilton Bay. It was transformed into a royal palace for A Not So Royal Christmas (2023), and you can completely see why. With its historic stone walls, elegant gardens, and sweeping views, it looks like it belongs in a European fairytale — and apparently, Hallmark thought so too.

Ancaster Mill - Ancaster, Ontario

If you’ve ever been to Ancaster Mill, you know how romantic it feels. The sound of the waterfall, the stone buildings, the way the light hits the river — it’s cinematic on its own. Hallmark featured it in The Love Club: Moms (2023), and it’s one of those places that looks even more beautiful in person than it does on screen.

Downtown Milton - Milton, Ontario

Downtown Milton got its moment in the spotlight with Christmas With a Kiss (2023). Main Street was completely transformed into a cozy, snow-covered Christmas village, twinkle lights and all. Locals watched as the storefronts turned festive overnight, and even the Milton Fire Station and nearby church got their Hallmark moment. It’s so fun to walk there now and picture those movie scenes.

Westfield Heritage Village - (Rockton) Hamilton, Ontario

Westfield Heritage Village is one of those hidden gems that already feels like a movie set. Hallmark used it for It Takes a Christmas Village (2021), and it’s not hard to see why. The preserved 19th-century buildings, old-fashioned charm, and forested setting make it look straight out of a snow globe.

Downtown Hamilton - Hamilton, Ontario

Hamilton’s downtown core has shown up in a few Hallmark films, including The Note (2007). The mix of heritage architecture and small-town feel gives it that perfect blend of nostalgia and warmth that’s so classic to the Hallmark formula.

Hallmark is literally next-door

From Hamilton’s historic estates to Milton’s charming downtown streets, the Burlington area is surrounded by real-life Hallmark magic. Next time you’re watching one of those cozy fall or Christmas movies, pay attention — that “quaint little town” might be closer than you think.

And if you’re craving a real-life Hallmark moment of your own, take a drive to Springridge Farm. Between the pumpkins, flowers, and that country charm, it’s the perfect spot to live out your own fall fairytale. ||
